Support
Something broke, something's confusing, or the bureau showed up at your door. Either way — we read every message. One human, one mailbox, no ticket numbers.
§ 01Before you write in
Most questions are answered below. If yours isn't, please email biz@inkvi.com with:
- What you tried (the rebel, the beat, the prompt)
- What you expected
- What happened instead
- Your iPhone model and iOS version, if it's a crash or audio issue
§ 02FAQ
The microphone isn't working / pronunciation won't start
The pronunciation beat needs both Microphone and Speech Recognition permissions. Open Settings → Chinese Radicals on your iPhone and confirm both are turned on. If they were denied the first time and you've changed your mind, this is where to fix it.
You can also tap the small "pass" button under the mic — pronunciation does not gate progress. The visit will accept a tap when speech recognition is unavailable.
I bought a subscription on another device — Region Two is locked
From the in-game settings menu (gear icon on the region map), tap Restore Purchases. This asks Apple for the receipt linked to your current Apple ID and unlocks Region Two as soon as Apple confirms your subscription is active. You may need to be signed into the same Apple ID that originally purchased the subscription.
How do I cancel my subscription?
Subscriptions are managed by Apple, not by us. On your iPhone: Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions → Chinese Radicals → Cancel Subscription. The cancellation is effective at the end of the current billing period — you keep access to Region Two until then.
How do I get a refund?
Refunds are handled by Apple, who is the merchant of record for all in-app purchases. Visit reportaproblem.apple.com, sign in with your Apple ID, find the Chinese Radicals charge, and request a refund. We can't process refunds ourselves, but if Apple bounces a request you believe was legitimate, email biz@inkvi.com and we'll see what we can do.
Voice / music / sfx playing too loud / not playing
Open the in-game settings (gear icon on the region map). There are independent sliders for music, voice, and SFX. Each can be muted without affecting the others. If audio is completely silent, check that your iPhone is not in silent mode and that the side switch isn't muting the ringer — Chinese Radicals uses the ambient audio session, so it follows system mute behavior.
The recognizer keeps saying I mispronounced a radical, but I didn't
Mandarin syllables are short, and on-device recognition can mishear them — especially names that sound like common English words. The game accepts a list of phonetic aliases per radical and falls back to a tap-to-pass option after a few failed attempts. If a particular radical consistently misfires for you, email us with the rebel name and what you said and we'll add the alias.
I want to start over from the beginning
In the in-game settings menu, tap Reset Progress. This clears all trust, completed visits, and region progress. It does not affect your subscription (that is managed by Apple). You will start at Region One again with Huǒ as the only available rebel.
Does Chinese Radicals work without an internet connection?
Yes, except for the very first purchase or restore of your Region Two subscription, which requires Apple's StoreKit to talk to its servers. Once the subscription is validated, the App will continue to run offline; iOS handles subscription receipt refresh in the background. Speech recognition uses Apple's on-device model where supported.
Is there a version for Android / iPad / Mac?
Not currently. Chinese Radicals is a native iPhone app and uses iPhone-portrait art and layouts. It runs on iPad in compatibility mode but has not been designed for that display. macOS and Android are not on the roadmap today.
I found a bug / I have an idea for a rebel
Please tell us: biz@inkvi.com. Reproducible bugs jump the queue. Rebel ideas are read with affection. We can't promise to ship them — but a good radical has changed the road map before.
