Terms of Use
By installing or using Chinese Radicals (the "App") you agree to these Terms of Use (the "Terms"). If you don't agree, delete the App and we'll part on reasonable terms. The bureau didn't write this — we did.
§ 01License
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to install and use one copy of the App on iPhones that you own or control, in accordance with the Apple App Store Licensed Application End User License Agreement (the "Standard EULA"), which is incorporated by reference into these Terms. Where these Terms conflict with the Standard EULA, these Terms control to the extent permitted.
§ 02Subscriptions
Region One of Chinese Radicals is free. Region Two is unlocked by a subscription purchased through Apple's In-App Purchase system. Two plans are offered:
- Monthly — auto-renewing every month at the price displayed in the App at the time of purchase.
- Yearly — auto-renewing every twelve months at the price displayed in the App at the time of purchase.
Auto-renewal
- Payment is charged to your Apple ID at confirmation of purchase.
- Subscriptions automatically renew unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
- Your account will be charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period.
- You can manage and cancel your subscription by going to your Apple ID account settings on your device after purchase.
- Any unused portion of a free trial, if offered, is forfeited when you purchase a subscription.
Cancellation & refunds
Cancellations are handled by Apple. To cancel, open Settings → your Apple ID → Subscriptions → Chinese Radicals, then tap Cancel Subscription. Refund requests are also handled by Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com. We do not process payments and cannot issue refunds directly.
Price changes
If we change subscription pricing, the new price takes effect at the next renewal. Apple will require your explicit consent for any material price increase before charging it.
§ 03Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the App except where applicable law expressly permits.
- Modify, redistribute, or attempt to sell the App or its bundled assets.
- Use the App to harass other people. (The App is single-player. There's no chat. We mention this only for completeness.)
- Interfere with Apple's payment systems or attempt to obtain Region Two without an active subscription.
§ 04Intellectual property
The App, including its source code, art (including the eleven rebel scenes, character designs, and bureau imagery), music, voice recordings, and the associated names and slogans, are owned by us or our licensors and are protected by copyright and other intellectual-property laws. Chinese characters depicted in the App are, of course, the heritage of everyone who writes them. We claim only our particular drawings, recordings, and arrangements of them.
§ 05User content
The App does not collect or transmit user content. Your handwriting strokes, voice attempts, and progress remain on your device. See the Privacy Policy for details.
§ 06Disclaimers
The App is provided "as is" and without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to fitness for a particular purpose, merchantability, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the App will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that your Mandarin will improve at any particular rate. We hope it will. We can't promise it.
§ 07Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, we will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of or related to your use of the App. Our total liability for any claim arising under these Terms is limited to the amount you have paid us — directly or through Apple — for the App in the 12 months preceding the claim, or USD $20, whichever is greater.
§ 08Termination
You may stop using the App at any time by deleting it. We may terminate or suspend your license if you materially breach these Terms. Sections relating to intellectual property, disclaimers, limitation of liability, and the governing-law clause survive any termination.
§ 09Apple as third-party beneficiary
You acknowledge that these Terms are between you and us — not between you and Apple. Apple is, however, a third-party beneficiary of these Terms and may enforce them against you. Apple is not responsible for the App or for any support claims. Maintenance and support, to the extent we provide it, is our responsibility.
§ 10Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of your country of residence, except where mandatory consumer-protection laws of another jurisdiction apply. Nothing in these Terms limits the statutory rights you have as a consumer.
§ 11Changes
We may amend these Terms by posting a new version at this URL. Material changes take effect at your next launch of the App after they are posted. Continued use of the App after that constitutes acceptance.
